Nicosia - The divided City

The island’s capital, Nicosia, offers visitors plenty to see. A short visit to the Cyprus Handicraft Center begins our tour, followed by a chance to look round the Cyprus Archaeological Museum containing priceless artifacts of the island’s rich past. Alternatively, you may choose to spend time in the city’s excellent shopping center before proceeding to Laiki Yitonia, a recently restored 19^th quarter of the city with tavernas and craft shops. After lunch the tour continues along the Green Line which divides the city in two, and the 16^th century Venetian Walls, to the Archbishopric. Here you will visit the Cathedral of St. John and the Byzantine Museum, which houses the largest collection of icons of the island.
